Why did Vanessa Valles write this book?
"I wrote “The Terrible, Super Sad Day" from a deeply personal place of pain and love. After the sudden and unexpected loss of my sister, who passed away from a pulmonary embolism following an ankle surgery, I struggled with emotions that I, as a mental health professional, had always worked to help others understand and navigate. The grief was overwhelming, and yet, I knew that through the hurt, there was love—because we only hurt because we love.
This book is my heartfelt expression of that love and a way to share the healing process with others facing similar emotional distress. As a mental health care professional, I’ve witnessed firsthand how powerful therapy, coping skills, and emotional resilience can be when it comes to recovery, and I wanted to create something that could support others who may be struggling with grief, loss, or trauma.
This is not just a book—it's a message of hope, healing, and emotional growth. I wrote it to help others who are navigating the painful road of loss, offering them tools to rebuild, cope, and find their way back to wellness. This story was created with love and empathy, not only to honor those I've lost, but to provide comfort and guidance to those who are in the midst of their own healing journey.
If you're grieving, or if you know someone who is, this book can be a meaningful companion along the path toward healing. It's a reminder that though we experience pain, it’s rooted in love—and through that love, we can find the strength to heal."
